After being drafted for the Seattle NFL team as the Hawaii University starter, Ursua believes anything is possible.
Ursua Wants to Use His Experience as an Example to Other Hawaii Footballers
John Ursua had a long way to go from two years of a church mission to the starting receiver for the Hawaiian University team to the NFL player. Now, he wants to share his experience and show other football players from Hawaii that entering the NFL is not a mission impossible.
He was picked by the Seattle Seahawks in the round seven of the NFL draft, and he said he wouldn’t change a thing related to his career path.
He is now back home before he goes to the NFL camp for preparation. When asked to comment on his breakthrough into the national league, he stated he felt honored and hoped that his example would open doors for other HU players into the major league.
Ursua pointed out that it didn’t matter where you came from as long as you could play the ball.
He and his teammate Tavai were the only two football players from the island to be drafted for the next NFL season. Now, they are both back home spending some quality time together before they go their separate ways — Tawai is going to Denver and Ursua heading to Seattle.
Ursua is thrilled that both of them have a chance to do something more so that other football players from Hawaii can make their dreams come true.
